Granting Agency Access to Google Tag Manager
A step-by-step guide to securely granting Digital Clicks access to your Google Tag Manager account.

Overview
This guide shows you how to securely grant Digital Clicks access to your Google Tag Manager account. You will add admin@digitalclicks.ca as a user, give the account Administrator access, and set the website container permission to Publish so our team can support your tracking setup properly.
Before You Begin
Before starting, make sure you can log in to the Google account that manages your website’s Google Tag Manager account. You should also know which Tag Manager account and container belong to your website.
Step 1: Log In to Google Tag Manager
Go to tagmanager.google.com and sign in. Select the account associated with your website.

Step 2: Open the Admin Section
Once you are inside the correct Google Tag Manager account, click the Admin tab in the top navigation bar.

Step 3: Go to User Management
Under the Account column on the left-hand side, click User Management.
Use the Account-level User Management option instead of only the Container-level option. This helps our team see the overall account structure and manage access more efficiently.

Step 4: Add a New User
Click the blue plus (+) button in the top right corner. Then select Add users.

Step 5: Enter the Digital Clicks Email Address
Enter the following email address into the email field:
admin@digitalclicks.ca
Under Account Permissions, check Administrator. This allows Digital Clicks to manage users and create new containers if needed.

Step 6: Set Container Permissions to Publish
In the Container permissions table, click the specific container for your website.
Set the permission level to Publish. Selecting Publish automatically includes Approve, Edit, and Read permissions.

Step 7: Send the Invitation
Click Done, then click Invite in the top right corner. This sends the access invitation to Digital Clicks.

Permission Level Definitions
Here is a quick explanation of the permission levels used in this setup:
Admin, at the account level, can manage users, view activity logs, and change account settings.
Publish, at the container level, can create tags, test them in Preview mode, and publish changes live to your website.
Approve can create versions, but cannot publish them live.

You Are All Set
Once the invitation is sent, Digital Clicks will receive the access request and confirm once access is active. Our team can then review your Google Tag Manager setup and support your website tracking needs.
